Visit to Lincoln's Home

For the past 3 days, I was at Springfield with my mom, her friend Gwenn and her 2 daughters Lianna and Malia. Springfield is the capital of Illinois, the town where all state government decisions are made. We stayed in a motel downtown Springfield across the street from the Governor's mansion. On Sunday (the day we left) we just settled in and went to an Italian restaurant for dinner. The next morning after a good breakfast, we went to visit Abraham Lincoln's house that has been conserved for people to visit and see inside it. It was a large yellow house with old fashioned furniture some of which was the original pieces dating back to 1850, you can see my picture taken outside the outdoor toilet! Lincoln was the 16th president of the U.S. He is famous for the abolition of slavery. After seeing his house we went to a museum about him. we had our photo taken with models of his family. I learned a lot about Honest Abe and saw his very own stovepipe hat.
The same afternoon we took a tour of the Capitol Building. They showed us the Senate and House gallery where important laws are passed. They also showed us the governor's bureau followed by beautiful paintings and statues and the stained glass dome.
Yesterday was spent learning about The Amish community of Arcola. We visited the home of an Amish lady who answered all our questions about her life and beliefs. It was a fun field trip.

Bizz to everybody
